Exploring in Acrylic and Oil
This 6-week class offers a mix of various art techniques in a fun, and relaxed setting. We will explore both oil and acrylic techniques with various applications to create original art cards and/or small paintings. With acrylics, collage papers will be rendered using a mix of various types of papers (tissue, vintage book pages, rice paper, etc.) and added design elements (e.g., stencils, stamps, vintage ephemera, image transfers). Cards can also be made using oil and oil and cold wax on canvas paper. The class will focus on color and abstract composition and each person will explore their own personal style.
Supplies needed:
Acrylic paints and/or oil paints in a split palette (e.g., warm and cold – red, blue, yellow and titanium white).
Supplies provided:
Cold wax, canvas paper, cards/envelopes, glue, brushes, tape.
Cost:
$270 for the six weeks

Artist Brief Bio
My art background for many years was in clay – working with a small group of potters in Pittsburgh, PA. Over the past 6 years I transitioned to oil painting, training and studying with Karla Runquist, Roseville, IL and Leslie Miller, Tubac, AZ. My artworks consist of representational paintings as well as abstract paintings using oil and cold wax over oil rub-out. My work has appeared in juried shows and exhibits in Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, and Wisconsin and recognized with several awards, including the 2021 Ursula Seuss Abstract Award, Tubac Center for the Arts. An upcoming two person show at StartaArta Art Gallery, NYC is scheduled for May, 2022.
