Easy Monotypes With Gelli Printing Plates

During this 1-day workshop you will explore a variety of techniques to create monoprints. You will experiment with layering color and visual textures using a variety of techniques. You’ll also learn your own mark making rhythm.

Monotypes are form of printmaking that has images or lines that can only be made once, unlike most printmaking, where there are multiple originals.

We will be using a Gelli Plate is simple and The gratification is immediate, each print is truly unique. Gelli Printing Plates are a soft, reusable plate for transferring your work to paper with hand pressure. They are a very easy and mess-free way of making monoprints.

Be ready to get creative and have printmaking fun. Go home with a piece of art unique as you are. No previous experience is necessary.

Leslie Miller is a contemporary artist painting primarily in oil with cold wax medium. Fascinated by the many layers, unique marks, and ability to create transparency and opacity that hints toward the human condition. Working intuitively each piece ebbs and flows through various layers that could not be achieved in one pass. In the same way, people are built from many different layers of influence and experiences.

Her artwork can be found in many local exhibits in Arizona and homes throughout the US. Leslie’s work is represented by On The Edge Contemporary Gallery in Tubac. In 2016 she received the Master Meed award by popular vote from Tubac Center of the Arts.

After many creative endeavors, she began her education in fine art through independent study in 2014 and continues to learn constantly from other accomplished artists. Notably, Leslie brings art instructors from around the country to teach workshops at Tubac School of Fine Art the adult education division of Tubac Center of the Arts. Leslie also teaches workshops at the school and online.

Born and adopted in California, raised in East Tennessee she now resides in Tubac, AZ.
