Chaos to Order: Watermedia Workshop
Watermedia is truly an amazing, versatile and expressive medium. “My primary chosen medium of transparent watercolor” Kathleen Conover emphasizes, “has a personality of its own and I love working with it, not completely controlling it.” Experimental in nature, on day one, Kathleen will lead the class through 12 “starts” using watercolor, acrylic, mark making tools, stamps, stencils and a variety of applications to expand the boundaries of traditional painting. These loose, colorful “starts” are as individual as the artists who make them from their intuitive choices, artists’ marks, preferred colors, layering techniques and personal symbols used.
Kathleen also emphasizes good design and composition for “finishing” those “starts” into attention-getting finished paintings. Beginner or advanced – you are encouraged to explore new techniques, concepts and materials to strengthen your unique expression in realism, abstraction or non-objective painting. Demonstrations, printed handouts, individual attention and independent work time will enable understanding and application of new information and processes. Specific lessons on texture building, color concepts, layering, how to do a value study, understanding design principles and elements, and more will be presented. “Most of all,” Kathleen says, “I want to help each artist advance to the next level in their work – no matter where they start.”
An introduction to Kathleen’s teaching is included in a three part You Tube video in “Workshops” on her web site: KathleenConover.com.
