It sucks being rejected from juried exhibitions. In this workshop, participants will learn what jurors look for. Through art critique and exercises in selecting artwork and presenting an exhibit, you’ll experience the perspective of the juror and learn about the jury process, and tips and tricks for getting into juried shows, You’ll be better able to discern which exhibits to apply to and when and why you shouldn’t.
You’ll leave the workshop with a better understanding and more confidence when it comes to applying to juried art shows.
Karon Leigh is a visual artist and art instructor who explores a variety of mediums to resolve an art-making vision. Her paintings are often inspired by the landscape and weather of Arizona. She has studied art at California College of Arts & Crafts, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, the Kirkland Art Center as well as with numerous professional artists. She has participated in solo, group, and juried exhibitions since 2005.
Her undergraduate degree is in Computer Science and with a certification in Multi-Media Website Design, and in 2017, she earned an M. S. in Integrated Marketing Communications.
In addition to her commitment to her own art, she manages art exhibitions and art programming as Artistic Director at Tubac Center of the Arts and is co-owner of On The Edge Contemporary Gallery in Tubac, AZ.
