Use a methodical approach to interpreting color. Work from your own photos printed in black and white to explore the available color options and reasoning behind them.
Developing a Color Plan
Jessica will help you build personal color plans in this boundless area of choice.
As an artist who focuses on color I am commonly asked “Hey Jessica, what color would look good here?” Whether you’re decorating a living room or painting a masterpiece, it’s an impossible question, because it depends on what your goals are.
One of the biggest obstacles artists face in color is the unlimited options. Unlike representational drawing, color is subjective. In this class we will learn a methodical approach to developing a color plan in our paintings. Students will work from their own photos printed in black and white and explore the available options and reasoning behind them.
There is no need to mix colors in this class! (Unless you’d like to). There is no need to use highly saturated colors! (Unless you’d like to). And there is no one answer. Student will be encouraged to be expressive and establish color plans that work for them.
