An introduction to palette knife painting
Palette Knife Studies
The goal of this class is to acquaint students with the use of the palette knife in painting. Working with oil paint the palette knife approach offers a more luminous result. The use of a palette knife also forces one to focus on shapes and not get lost in details. A suggestion of a subject with oil paint is often more alive than a copy. Come join us as we explore this theme.

I consider myself an impressionist/realist painter. I like to explore the subtle ways that light affects the landscape. I also enjoy color and the value relationships when i work while trying also to bring out the abstract qualities in the subject. Oil painting for me is a meditative experience, essential to my well being and a necessary part of my life. Painting
brings me great joy, and I hope uplifts the hearts of those who view my work.
“There are moments in our lives, there are moments in a day, when we seem to see beyond the usual. Such are the moments of our greatest
happiness. Such are the moments of our greatest wisdom.”
Robert Henri . David is a signature member of the American Impressionist Society.

As an experienced painter it’s good to do a “brush up” occasionally. I took David’s class and it was perfect. Refreshing new techniques in a great environment. It’s taken me to my next level of competence.
I liked the way David taught the course with enthusiasm every day and kept all the art students engaged in the class.
