Joseph Pearson  “Expressing Your Primal Instinct”  March 23, 24 & 25, 2018

Drawing is a way of looking at the world. Studies by the late Rhoda Kellogg shows that when a piece of paper and a drawing tool was placed in before a child as young as 18 months it would begin to express it’s world through drawing , scribbles, i.e. gesture. A child would continue to draw until about 12 or 13 years old. Such is our need to express our world visually. This workshop draws upon the natural inclination to draw and it leads the student into a fully realized representation of the human figure.

Barbara Mulleneaux “Express Yourself “  April 6, 7 & 8, 2018

Students will learn how the pallete knife can achieve crisp, clean paintings, even when working alla prima By identifying values and massing (blocking in) large shapes, students will see better results early on and spend less time “fixing” their work later.

Kathie Odom “Inside/Out”  April 10, 11, 12 &13, 2018

Beginning with an evening meet & greet and demonstration followed three days of morning painting en Plein Air followed by an afternoon studio execution of the same morning scene. That’s right… 3+ full days of immersing yourself in the business of capturing light to bring it indoors!
