Tubac School of Fine Art proudly announces an astonishing list of nationally acclaimed teaching artists coming to Tubac in 2018. You won’t want to miss these great opportunities to boost your artistic skills, in the new year.

2018 Fine Art Workshops
A workshop consists of one to five days of intensive focus, taught by nationally-recognized, professional artists from across the country. Most fine art workshops are held over a weekend and run from 9 am- 4 pm with a one-hour lunch break.
Workshops sell out quickly & require advanced online registration.
Linda Dobkin “Still Life from Life” January 5 & 6, 2018
In this oil paintings still life class, we will focus on what brings a painting to a finish. We will learn how the eye moves around the canvas, and how to determine where to have hard and soft edges to create atmosphere. I will be bringing objects, flowers, and fruit for the setups.
Cory Huff the Abundant Artist “How to Sell Your Art” January 12 & 13, 2018
A two-day in-person workshop where the TAA team leads you and your fellow artists through a transformational, educational experience on how to become a professional artist, and how to make sure that your art matters.
Walter Porter “Plein Air Painting Workshop” January 19, 20 & 21, 2018
Walter will focus on establishing strong compositions that can be easily achieved He will also show you how to produce beautiful pieces of art by “keeping it simple” with an easy to use limited palette as well as showing just how valuable and fun plein air painting can be… weather permitting of course.

In this workshop, we’ll break down the process of painting into a series of steps that we will explore in depth. Painting from direct observation, both plein air and in the studio, we will devote the majority of each session to painting.

Weekly Fine Art Classes
Our weekly classes are taught by professional artists who have been personally invited by Tubac School of Fine Art LLC both for their artistic skills and their inspirational teaching styles. Instructors offer demos in addition to providing each student with personalized instruction.
Weekly classes are broken down into morning sessions 9 am -12 pm & afternoon sessions 1 pm -4 pm unless otherwise noted. Be sure to read the particulars for each class, including the beginning date and duration of sessions.
Drop-ins are welcome whenever space allows.

Tuesday Mornings: Myrna York “Sumi-E” Beginning January 30 for 4 weeks
Sumi – E (Asian Ink Brush Painting and Calligraphy) is a 2 thousand-year-old tradition requiring discipline and practice. Its simplicity is deceptive and the beauty comes from the joy and frustration, the perfect and the imperfect, the modest and the humble.

Thursdays Mornings: Foundational Drawing with John Marbury
This class is an introduction to drawing using a grid system. The grid is a highly efficient tool for learning to draw accurately and was widely used by most renowned artists such as Michaelangelo, Vermeer and Dürer.
